Job Description

Minimum Experience, Skills and Education:

  • 21 years of age or older
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as business requires, which includes nights, weekend and holiday hours
  • Desire to continually develop retail sales skills and knowledge of products
  • Customer service experience, preferably in a retail or wine shop setting, food service, grocery, restaurant
  • Knowledge of, passion for and experience working with wine, craft beer and spirits  
  • Ability to use technology applicable to the position and access information necessary to complete daily responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Open and close the store as a key carrier
  • Proactively approach customers on the sales floor, make recommendations based off the customers’ requests
  • Engage customers in the product and share knowledge
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by greeting and establishing a rapport with customers while informing them of our products 
  • Help locate items and answer any questions about our products 
  • Perform cashier functions and adhere to minor policy while completing customer transactions
  • Uphold state regulations during the sale of alcohol with NO exceptions or violations 
  • Stock shelves, rotate items and ensure product levels are sustained throughout the day to meet customer needs, unload and break down deliveries. Replenish and maintain inventory, including home spots, end caps, and the coolers
  • Provide tastings of products to customers; properly set up and demo products following wine/beer sample programs and adhering to all state laws
  • Set up displays and merchandise products in innovative and eye-appealing ways to promote products
  • Verify all incoming deliveries by ensuring the quantity and type of products received are correct and match invoices, checking for overages, shortages or other discrepancies in products, refusing delivery of products that do not meet standards 
  • Utilize resources to expand knowledge about the wide variety of wines/beers available in the department to grow and develop professionally, be certain to share acquired knowledge to better assist customers 
  • Able to problem solve, anticipating, analyzing, and identifying problems, responding quickly when situations arise and preventing problems when possible.
  • Experience ordering product and handling inventory 
  • Ability to walk, bend down repeatedly, and be on feet for 10-12 hours a day
  • Prevent inventory shrinkage and deter shop lifting activity, overseeing inventory levels
